Cocaine and heroin were chucked out of a car window as police gave chase to a pair of drug dealers in Yorkshire.

Jak Shaw, 31, of Spa Well Crescent, and Zayne Imran, 20, of Canklow Road, Rotherham, attempted to throw away over £1,000 of class A drugs after refusing to stop for officers. Police on patrol in Eastwood council estate in the town became suspicious of a vehicle driven by Shaw. The vehicle showed to have no registered keeper and no insurance on October 31.

The force requested the Shaw to stop but he refused. During a short chase, a package was thrown from the window before the car stopped. Shaw and Imran were arrested at the scene.

The package was quickly found and contained a large quantity of class A drugs, later discovered to be cocaine and heroin. Shaw pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin and possession of a prohibited weapon. He was jailed for three years and two months at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday (19 June).

Imran was found guilty of possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin at the same court on Tuesday (18 June). He was sentenced to four years in prison.

Detective Sergeant Matt Barnes said: “This result was made possible by the exemplary work of our officers. It shows the importance of the proactive work carried out by the force.

“I’m pleased Shaw and Imran are now behind bars as this serves as another reminder that we will not tolerate the supplying of drugs in Rotherham and South Yorkshire. We will continue to pursue those dealing illegal substances in our county.”
