Given Leeds United's unwanted record in the play-offs of five unsuccessful promotion bids from five attempts, it's expected many Whites fans will head to Wembley feeling more than a little nervous about Sunday's game with Southampton. The play-offs have been cruel to Leeds in the past and the Championship play-off final could again prove to be so.

The hope is that isn't the case and according to former Leeds player and Sky Sports EFL presenter David Prutton, it won't be the case this weekend. Although, if Prutton's prediction for the big game proves to be accurate, Leeds supporters are going to be put through the wringer at Wembley.

Prutton, who has experienced play-off final heartache with Leeds back in 2008 when losing the League One showcase to Doncaster Rovers, is expecting an exciting game but one which ultimately ends with a penalty shoot-out after extra-time.

Speaking to Sky Sports he said; “We talk about how cagey these games can be, but there’s something in me that’s leaning towards this one being a little bit more expansive.

“It’s been five play-off campaigns they’ve not got through. Leeds fans can keep the faith because at some stage that duck’s got to break. I think Leeds squeeze through on penalties, 10-9.”

We're not sure many have the fingernails or nerves for a 10-9 penalty shoot-out result on Sunday, but regardless of how the game finishes, we are sure there's certain to be drama and a tense atmosphere. It's what the Championship does to you!
