10K at Northumberland beauty spot raises more than £4,000 for hospice
An annual 10K charity race has raised more than £4,000 for a Northumberland hospice.
The Druridge Bay 10K welcomed 161 participants and 22 junior runners to the Northumberland coast on Sunday May 26. The winner, James Anderson, managed the route in just over 33 minutes.
The youngest participant in the 10K, Jude Gore, tackled the junior race first and then joined his dad, Richard, to smash the route in just over an hour. Runners raised a total of £4,280 for HospiceCare North Northumberland, plus gift aid, though some sponsorships are expected to add further to the final total.

Beth Patterson, of HospiceCare North Northumberland, said that excitement was already building for 2025, and that the hospice had had some "amazing feedback" on the route. She added her thanks, saying: "Big thanks to all supporters, runners and volunteers on that day.
"Without you all, continuing with this fundraising event would not be possible. HospiceCare are grateful to all those who took part, as all proceeds raised are in aid of the services provided by HospiceCare throughout North Northumberland."
HospiceCare North Northumberland still has places left for the Great North Run, and encouraged prospective runners to get in touch ahead of a July 5 deadline.
