10p trick cleans your air fryer with zero effort

An air fryer fan has shared the simple trick they use to clear out grease and first from deep inside the basket, Air fryers have become the modern kitchen must-have thanks to the quick, efficient and convenient way they cook food.

But the shape and design of the trays, and the baskets fitted with holes for air circulation, mean they can be difficult to keep clean. Taking to Reddit, one home cook wanted to know exactly how to get all the gunky bits out of their air fryer.

In the title of their Reddit post, they asked : “Best way to clean greasy, gunky air fryer basket and tray?” They continued: “Hi folks as per the title I'm looking for the best way to clean my gunky greasy Costco air fryer basket using items that can be found the in the UK. Please help! Thanks!!”

Coming to the rescue, someone shared a solution of their own that could change the way that you view washing out air fryers, reports The Express.

They wrote: “Personally, I wipe out as much gunk as I can with paper towels, then squirt a good bit of washing up liquid into the basket tray thing and boil the kettle, tip that out into the basket.

“If it's only really the bottom that's minging, one kettle is enough, if it's got gunky sides above the water line, I'll boil the kettle again.

“Let it sit for about fifteen minutes (I set a timer so I don't forget and come back to cold clammy water) and then tip the water out, give a good scrub with a non-stick safe scrubby sponge, and rinse."

The trick should use less than 10p in energy from your fryer and kettle - and the small amount of washing liquid.
