Right from when Netflix first unveiled the trailer for the third series of 13 Reasons Why, we knew one thing – Bryce Walker had been killed.

However, that's the only information we had, and the third series of the controversial teen show saw the students of Liberty High work together to try and figure out who had killed Bryce (Justin Prentice).

We had a few theories about who could have done it – and it seems our speculation was correct, as it turns out it was Alex who eventually killed Bryce.

On the night of the Homecoming Game, a big fight broke out which resulted in Zach with a bad knee and Bryce disappearing. It turns out he wanted to speak to Jessica and admit all his wrongdoing, but instead of Jessica meeting him at at the docks, Zach did – and left him with a broken leg and arm.

Jessica and Alex did eventually turn up, and Bryce gave her a tape he'd made admitting to all of the rapes he'd committed and apologising for the damage he'd done.

As they started to leave, Bryce asked if they could help him walk, which Alex did. But as he did so, he realised the huge amount of damage Bryce had done, and threw him into the water.

So now we know who killed Bryce, and the actor who plays him, Justin Prentice, has said that this was a "surprise".

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he said: "You know, I could see why when I read it was Alex. I was like, 'Yeah, I get it'. I didn't necessarily call this one.

"I knew it wasn't Zach, so I knew that there was more to the story than that and I always assumed that Jess might be involved. So I had parts of the puzzle sort of mapped out, but not the whole picture. So that was a fun little surprise."

Justin also spoke about the different facets to Bryce's personality, as Bryce began to change throughout the show.

"I've gotten to explore the villain side of Bryce for many years now. And that's been, as an actor, very rewarding — playing something different from how I am.

"But then to take a character that you're so used to playing one way and start throwing in elements of the complete opposite, seeing humanity breaking through was very enjoyable.

"And then of course he still has his relapses back into old Bryce, triggered by certain characters. So it wasn't like a complete overhaul, but it was fun to sprinkle all of these new moments that we haven't gotten to explore with Bryce yet."

13 Reasons Why season 1, 2 and 3 are available now on Netflix.
