Aston Villa are said to have tabled a 15m euros bid for Sevilla defender Marcos Acuna.

It is understood the Argentine left-back “is about to join” Villa, having previously been linked with a move to Villa Park.

Acuna claimed last month he was denied a transfer to Villa because of “personal” issues between Monchi and Sevilla president Jose Castro.

Acuna was linked with a move to Villa Park last summer, but he ended up staying in Spain. Acuna spoke out on the failed transfer , claiming Villa made “an important offer” to Sevilla.

“They were not rumours, Sevilla had an important offer that, due to personal reasons of the president and Monchi, was not closed, and I was the one affected,” he said. “I think I didn't deserve it because a good amount of money would have come in, but that's already happened and I'm focused now on the remaining dates.”

Speaking about his future, Acuna admitted it is uncertain. “I have a contract until 2025, but I don't know,” he added. “First I have to accumulate minutes, play games and then see what comes next.

“I don't know. I trust myself and the people who are in the club trust me. Afterwards, what they say from outside doesn't interest me. I always try to give my best and I think I have shown it in every game I play.”
