James May has publicly responded to Jeremy Clarkson for the first time in months.

The former Top Gear duo had been watching England’s Euro 2024 clash with Denmark on Thursday which saw the Three Lions play in Germany.

Playing out a 1-1 draw, England had taken an early lead through Harry Kane but were pegged back by Morten Hjulmand’s long shot in the first half.

The draw meant that Gareth Southgate’s men will have to wait until next Tuesday’s game with Slovenia to qualify for the knockouts.

Both TV celebrities took to X, formerly Twitter, following the full-time whistle to share their thoughts on the match.

Clarkson alluded to his pig farming at his Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire and made the connection to Denmark’s creation of bacon.

“Yes. But we make better bacon,” he said.

May simply said: “Was that a bit… c**p?”

On Friday, May went back to Clarkson’s own post and responded: “And gammon.”

The pair’s first online interaction in months seemed in good spirits but May recently confirmed rumours that it was unlikely he would work with Clarkson or Richard Hammond again.

Speaking to Unilad, he said: "I think people would only really like us doing cars, despite what some people say - ‘Oh, I think you should all go off and do cooking or you should all go and do a podcast about nothing.’

“But I don’t think so, I think we should let it lie, what we did.”
