16-year-old boy stabbed in the hand in South East London

A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed in south-east London.

He was found with a stab injury and has been taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

Police were called to the incident on Chatterton Road, Bromley at around 4.30pm on Thursday.

It is thought a young man was stabbed in the hand during an altercation.

The confrontation began outside a Co-op supermarket between a group of six or seven young people and another young man.

During the altercation, one of the group was then stabbed.

He was chased down the street by the group before they returned shortly after.

One eyewitness told Yahoo News UK: ‘The boy who was stabbed looked about 15 years old. The police were talking to him but he said he didn’t know who the other guy was.

’After it happened, they started chasing this guy down the road, but I think he got away. So they came back to the kid who had been stabbed’.

This is the latest in a series of attacks across London, which have stoked concerns over rising violent crime in the capital.

The Met Police has opened 60 murder investigations since the start of the year.

Met Police records show 37, 443 recorded knife offences in the year between September 2016/17.

The Met Police said no arrests have been made but enquiries continue.
