But, as the 2017 Sunday Times Rich List will attest, there's still money to be made – and there aren't many surprising names in the top twenty.

Paul McCartney, still plugging away at the age of 74, tops the table with a net worth of £780 million, up £20 million from the year before. He's closely followed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and U2 managed to find £48 million from beneath the sofa cushions, moving up to third.
