The man behind Ariel's bestie is a hottie!

The Little Mermaid has always been queer — Hans Christian Anderson wrote the original story as a gay allegory after the man he was in love with married a woman and Ursula from the 1989 animated movie was modeled after iconic drag queen Divine — but it turns out that in the new live-action remake Flounder the fish is gay too. Well, at least his super hot puppeteer is!

In the new Disney remake of the beloved animated movie Flounder is puppeteered by UK-based Chris George Scott, who played a bunch of different roles behind the scenes.

In a caption of an Instagram post where he was sharing behind the scenes content from the set of the movie, Scott wrote, “I got to do all kinds on this job, and I really mean it!! From puppeteering Ursula’s tentacles, being countless sea creatures, dancing in the village sequence, standing in for Max the dog (I’m not joking) and even getting to puppeteer Flounder in Sardinia. It was the wildest wettest ride.”

The original Flounder was Ariel’s adorable sidekick, but audiences were annoyed and confused by seeing a more photo-relastic fish in the new movie. People took to social media to voice their outrage that he was too lifelike and emotionless, but lucky for us the man behind the fish is sexy as hell and more than makes up for a subpar onscreen fish.

But this multi-talented performer isn’t just Flounder's puppeteer, he’s also an actor, dancer, and choreographer. He appeared in the musical Wicked on London’s West End and 2018’s Mary Poppins Returns. He has also worked for the Royal Opera House and the National Dance Company of Wales.

And although he’s been happily married to a very handsome man since 2021, his Instagram account provides us with tons of eye candy!
