  • Hyundai's improvements to the EV version of the 2020 Hyundai Ioniq will cost buyers a bit more, with the vehicle starting at $34,000.

  • The price is a $2755 jump from the outgoing model year.

  • For that money, there have been improvements to range, horsepower, and standard equipment.

Late last fall, Hyundai announced updates to the 2020 Ioniq Electric, which included a boost in range, improved charging ability, and higher horsepower. All of those changes, we now know, come along with an increase in price by $2755, meaning the 2020 Ioniq Electric will start at $34,000.

There are two trim levels for the electric vehicle—SE and Limited—with the upper-level model starting at $39,610. Both trim levels come with an updated powertrain and battery, going from 118 horsepower to 134 horsepower and from 28.0 to 38.2 kWh. The improvement in capacity boosts the range from 124 miles up to 170 miles.

The EV will come standard with an 8.0-inch infotainment screen as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. Much like its internal-combustion counterpart, it also comes with an array of standard driver-assist technology, including forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and lane-keeping assist.
