'Exam Cheat' Schoolgirl In Dubai Death Plunge

An Indian schoolgirl leapt to her death from the 17th floor of a tower block in Dubai after being told off by her father for cheating in an exam, according to reports.

Police were alerted after a cleaner found the 14-year-old's body lying on the ground in the Jumeirah Lake Towers area of the city in the United Arab Emirates.

Investigators discovered a teacher had caught the girl cheating in an exam and warned her she would be expelled if it happened again, Dubai newspaper the Khaleej Times reported.

Returning home distraught and upset, she was scolded by her father after he found out about the incident, before going to her room.

Her family only learned of her death - which police have recorded as suicide - after officers arrived at the scene.

A police officer told the paper: "Her parents told us that when she returned home she was distraught and very upset.

"Her father, who came to know about the cheating, also chided her.

"She went to her room and locked the door, after which the family heard some sound."
