Thousands of people descended on the Applegarth in Northallerton on Sunday for the town’s homegrown food festival.

The event, which combines local music, food and activities for all the family so huge crowds come out in the warm June sun.

Attendees got the pick of some of the region’s best food with a host of stalls selling tantalisingly tasty produce, while the Food Theatre played host to demonstrations from local chefs wowing with their culinary skills.

Local music played throughout the day with a rock band, acoustic duo and funk and soul band among the mix of artists.

Meanwhile, a host of workshops kept the kids entertained with youngsters learning to make falafel, churros, jam, break, cake and noodles at classes throughout the day.

Organiser of the Homegrown Food Festival, Sally Anderson said: “As well as the impressive line-up of activities, festival goers have had the chance to browse, taste and buy food from stallholders selling a wide range of locally made products including artisan breads, cakes, meats, cheeses, preserves, pies, chocolate, street food and so much more.

“With the weather in our favour it’s been another memorable event for Northallerton and visitors to the area.”
