Inspiration knows no bounds in the 2020 Real Simple Home. From paint colors, to closet organizing ideas, to wallpaper picks, there are plenty of clever ideas to borrow for your own space. Case in point: all of the on-trend houseplants found throughout the idea home. Psst...you'd never guess that half of them are faux plants! Below are four of the must-have houseplants spotted in the house, plus where to buy them.

On-Trend Tropical Plants

To give the office in the Real Simple Home as relaxing a vibe as possible, Etsy's resident trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson incorporated a variety of tropical houseplants. Not only does the monstera leaf tucked into the vase atop the secretary desk add a sculptural touch, but the large floor-standing bird of paradise makes a statement.

Olive Trees (and Branches)

Recently, olive trees have been showing up in stylish homes everywhere—yes, including the Real Simple Home! Designers Rebecca Atwood and Kate Hamilton Gray decided to introduce a stylish olive tree into the owner's suite. The big surprise: you would never guess that it's actually faux.

Don't have excess space for an indoor tree? Opt for olive branches instead.

Trailing Pothos

Good news, pothos is not only on-trend for its hanging vines that look dramatic dangling over a shelf, cabinet, or mantel, but it's also well-known for being one of the hardest house plants to kill. Even better: the one spotted in the bar area at the Real Simple Home is fake, yet looks oh-so-real.

No-Maintenance Plants

Are you seeing a trend here? Faux plants that look identical to the real deal are having a moment. And the trend continues in the colorful tween bedroom in the Real Simple Home. Designer Joy Cho added a mix of artificial aloe and hens and chicks to a playful vase to create a textural arrangement you'll never have to remember to water.
