The London Underground is undeniably a marvel of transport engineering - but there's no denying some areas of the city benefit significantly more from the Tube network than others. It may be possible to traverse half of London in less than 30 minutes on the Tube, but frustratingly this convenience isn't evenly spread.

With the opening of the Elizabeth line in 2022 West and East London became better connected than ever before. Meanwhile, South Londoners sighed with frustration that they were left out of all the fun once again. Any South Londoner will lament the stark shortage of Tube stations south of the river, with some boroughs having none whatsoever.

MyLondon has put together a list of the London boroughs boasting the most Tube stations - the record being 32 - and also highlighted the six unfortunate boroughs that don't have any.

The 6 London boroughs without Tube stations

Kingston upon Thames, Croydon, Bexley, Bromley and Sutton are the five unlucky boroughs that have never been graced by a Tube station. Lewisham once had two Underground stations on the East London Line, but these now form part of the London Overground network, so it now joins the Tubeless ranks.

The main reason for the shocking lack of Tube stations south of the river comes down to a geography. While the ground north of the river is largely clay-based, in the South it is mostly made up of 'Lambeth and Thanet Sand' which was historically much harder to dig tunnels through. However, these boroughs aren't entirely cut off, with services like the London Overground, National Rail, trams and numerous bus routes available, including Sadiq Khan's new Superloop.

London boroughs with the most Tube stations

Westminster, right in the heart of London, boasts a plethora of Tube stations including big names like Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Circus and Leicester Square, as well as lesser-known ones such as Bayswater, Warwick Avenue and Royal Oak.
