The 7 Best New Movies Streaming on Netflix in July 2024

For much of 2024, streaming services like Netflix have been tasked with picking up a lot of entertainment slack amid a thin slate of original movies released in theaters. June saw that tide begin to turn with the success of films like “Bad Boys 4 Life” and “Inside Out 2,” and July could bring more summer blockbuster hits in the form of “Twisters” and “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

But even as the theatrical landscape begins to look healthier, sometimes there’s nothing better than watching movies in the comfort of your own air-conditioned home during the dog days of summer. When you inevitably find yourself craving a great home viewing experience this month, Netflix has plenty of options to choose from. The streamer’s July slate of original programming is headlined by “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” but also features bold original efforts like the Studio Ponoc anime “The Imaginary.” And if you’re more interested in revisiting the cinema of yesteryear, Netflix has added a strong slate of archival titles to scratch your nostalgia itch or catch you up on recent hits you might have missed.
