7 huge Home and Away questions we have after this week's Australian episodes

From Digital Spy

Home and Away spoilers follow from this week's Australian-pace episodes, which some UK readers may prefer to avoid.

Home and Away aired more tense scenes for Bella Nixon and Colby Thorne this week, as the investigation into Ross's murder threatened to land them in serious trouble.

Here's seven big questions we've been left with after the latest episodes.

1. Will Bella's statement save Colby?

In a saga that spanned several episodes, Bella went AWOL with Nikau when she was expected down at the police station to be questioned over the death of her father Ross. Rapidly losing patience with the problems caused by Bella's no-show, Angelo threatened to issue a warrant for her arrest if she didn't arrive at the station within 72 hours.

Bella ended up returning to the Bay with little time to spare and agreed to finally give her interview, but Colby feared that she could slip up under the pressure of Angelo's stern questioning. Could she give his guilty secret away?

2. Can Nikau and Bella's relationship survive?

Nikau and Bella are certainly going through more than most young couples. Nikau has just discovered that Bella's brother is a murderer, while the outcome of their runaway drama – which saw Nikau manipulate Bella into coming out of hiding and returning home – also put their relationship under considerable strain.

Home and Away has revealed that Nikau and Bella will struggle to get their romance back on track next week, as the impact of recent events finally hits. Can they make it through?

3. Is Colby playing with fire?

As if he wasn't already on Angelo's radar, Colby has taken a major risk by deliberately befriending the detective's wife Taylor. Colby has tried his best to get closer to Taylor in order to find out information about Angelo's investigations into Ross's murder.

Loose-lipped Taylor has already given a few sneaky details away, leaving Colby confident that his new tactics could pay off.

We do have to wonder whether this is really Colby's best move, though – it's a sure way to prove to Angelo that he has something to hide, after all. Plus, we wouldn't be totally surprised if Taylor has divided loyalties as this story continues.

4. When will Dean tell Jai who he is?

Dean's life has changed forever following the surprise revelation that Amber has a young son, Jai, and he's the father. Amber introduced them at the beach this week and they got along well – although she banned Dean from telling Jai who he really was.

Amber seems to favour a more tentative approach, allowing Jai to get to know Dean as a friend before hitting him with the truth. But how long will Dean be prepared to wait when it comes to building a proper father-son relationship?

5. Will Dean and Ziggy's relationship survive?

Home and Away has returned to one of its favourite tricks – causing trouble for Ziggy's relationships. Ziggy has taken a selfless approach to Dean's big news, giving him her blessing to build a relationship with Jai.

Even so, there are already tell-tale signs that Ziggy could be left out in the cold as Dean continues to spend time with Jai and Amber. The big question for Ziggy is sure to be where she fits into this trio – if she fits into it at all.

6. Will Justin have the surgery?

A major new storyline for Justin has begun, with the surprise revelation that he has a tumour in his spine. Justin has been encouraged to consider surgery to address the issue, but has refused to consider it because he fears the possibility of permanent paralysis if the procedure goes wrong.

Tori was adamant that Justin was making the wrong choice, but found it difficult to convince him otherwise. Will he stick to his decision or come round to Tori's way of thinking?

7. What impact will Owen have on the Bay?

We'd assumed that Evan's twin Owen had come to Summer Bay on some sort of mysterious mission, but it turned out to be pure coincidence. Owen told the Stewart family that he'd been travelling past and felt drawn to the Bay by chance, so stopped in for a visit.

This means that Owen actually had no ulterior motive for crossing paths with Ryder, Roo and Alf – in fact, he had no idea who they were.

Owen's arrival is making a major impact on Roo in particular, as she's struggling with his physical resemblance to Evan. Ryder, meanwhile, is in danger of becoming too full-on as he bombards Owen with information about his sibling.

But could Owen's presence turn out to be exactly what the Stewarts need after losing Evan, or is it a recipe for disaster?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Monday to Thursday at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
