What's an awards ceremony without a few awkward moments?

While John Legend made everyone swoon as he spoke about his new son Miles and couples paraded smugly up and down the red carpet, we were left to rely on a few dependable celebrities to bring some cringeworthy behaviour to the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.

Thankfully, they stepped up this year.

1. Demi Lovato's poker face during Taylor Swift's speech

Ooh, that's not ideal.

Demi and Taylor have a complicated history: in 2016, Demi dissed Taylor's "squad" in interview with Glamour, saying: "To be honest, and this will probably get me in trouble, I don't see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body.

"It's kind of this false image of what people should look like."

She also called out Taylor for staying silent during Kesha's Dr. Luke trial verdict in 2015.

When Taylor eventually donated $250,000 to Kesha for legal fees, Demi tweeted, "Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I'll be impressed."

2. Mila Kunis almost tripping on Taylor's dress

We mean, very awkward for both involved, here. Luckily this moment didn't result in any dress or human injuries (that we know of).

3. Taylor Swift dancing

Depending on which way you look at it, this could either be awkward or brilliant. Taylor is known as the Queen of awkward dance moments, inspiring many a meme with her various awards show dances.

Looks like another to add to the list, then.

4. Rebel Wilson making a joke about Prince Harry

It's too soon, Rebel. Let us have our happy moment.

5. This awkward BTS hug/handshake moment

We have all been there, and it is THE WORST.

6. The camera panning to Normani just as former band member Camila Cabello was about to perform

All's well, though; the former Fifth Harmony bandmates had a reunion at the awards, and looked chuffed to be in each other's company.

7. Taehyung and Jimin from BTS stealing Kelly Clarkson's limelight

8. Jason Kennedy and Andy Cohen's whole interview

Undoubtedly the most uncool part of the evening was when US TV host Andy Cohen stepped up for an interview with E! presenter Jason Kennedy, and promptly asked him "where on the gay spectrum" he is.

Kennedy had absolutely no idea how to answer (understandably) so Cohen elaborated. "How possible would it be at like 4 in the morning in Vegas, would guys have a better shot at you then maybe…"

Kennedy responded, "I would say my wife, I would call and be like, 'Andy's hitting on me'."

Cohen then added, "That's a leap. I didn't say it would be me," to which Kennedy concluded "Now it got really awkward."
