The latest closure on one of Norfolk's busiest routes will send drivers on a 60-mile diversion.

The A140 is facing more roadworks in the coming weeks disrupting motorists in Tivetshall St Mary near Diss.

The road will be closed overnight from 7pm on July 5 and also from 7pm on July 16.

A fully signed diversion route will be in place and will take drivers on a 60-mile diversion.

Motorists will be taken up a stretch of the A140 into Norwich before travelling on the A146 into Gillingham and the A143 into Scole.

The work will see a second layer of dressing applied to the road as well as line painting and road studs being installed.

A spokesman for Norfolk County Council said: "The County Council thanks people for their patience while this surface improvement work is carried out."

The total project, which has included precious work, has cost £132,900 and has been carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and its contractors.
