A30 crash video shows lorry sticking out of hedge

A video shows the aftermath of the moment a lorry crashed off the A30 in Cornwall. The lorry careered off the major A-road in Cornwall yesterday, Thursday, January 23, causing chaos for motorists.

Footage taken by passing motorists after the incident shows the lorry perpendicular to the road as vehicles speed past. The lorry appears to have crashed off the main carriageway along the A30, through the hedgerow and into a field between Newquay and Truro.

Multiple emergency service vehicles were seen in the area, including police and ambulance crews. It is not thought that anyone suffered any injuries, but the lorry driver was reported for driving without care.

At the time of the incident, motorists were warned to expect delays. CornwallLive reported that the A30 eastbound between Summercourt Central and the Newquay turn off was closed for around number of hours but was reopened at 7.10pm.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police has said: "Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry on the eastbound carriageway of the A30 near Summercourt, near Newquay, at around 2.45pm on Thursday 23 January.

"No injuries were reported. The road was closed for a time at around 5.55pm to allow for the lorry to be recovered. It was reopened at around 7.10pm.

"The lorry driver was reported to court for driving without due care."
