Abbey Clancy has defended her eight-year-old daughter Sophia entering the modelling world as the youngster stars alongside her mother in a new campaign.

Sophia, whom Clancy shares with footballer Peter Crouch, has made her debut with fashion brand Lipsy for a collection aimed at five to 14 year olds.

The two made an appearance on Lorraine today, where host Lorraine Kelly mentioned some might consider Sophia to be too young to model.

But Clancy, 33, insisted: "I’ve never pushed her into it, she wanted to do it! Having four kids, spreading my time is hard, so I appreciate spending time with my daughter."

Kelly also asked Sophia what aspirations she had for the future, to which she replied: "I want to be a model."

Continuing to counter claims Sophia was too young, Clancy went on: "I’ve had great career, I have never come across problem or felt uncomfortable in any situations. Life’s too short, you’ve got to do what you love.

Clancy's husband is releasing a new autobiography I, Robot: How to be a Footballer, which is being serialised in The Mirror.

In the book, he details a 2009 incident which saw the two of them involved in a "horror movie" boating accident that could've seen the pair killed.
