The ‘absolute gem’ of a beach with £2 pints and ice cream for under 99p you can fly to from Manchester Airport

A stunning Mediterranean destination with pints for less less than £2 and spritz cocktails for £3.50 has been named among Europe’s cheapest beach holidays. Kleopatra Beach in Alanya, Turkey offers holidaymakers budget-friendly prices as well as gorgeous coastal scenery.

The resort boasts a vast, white, fine pebble beach, with azure blue sea and palm-lined promenades. It’s located on the north side of Alanya, a popular town situated along the ‘Turkish Riviera’.

Although you can’t fly direct to Alanya from Manchester Airport, you can fly to Antalya with flights available later in July from around £130 one way, with returns from a similar price according to Skyscanner. Alanya is around a two hours drive from there.

Kleopatra Beach was named the second cheapest beach destination by travel experts at Omio, which analysed data such as Google ratings, average summer temperatures and rental prices to find top destinations and compared the prices of sun lounger rental, beers, spritzes, meals out, ice creams and bottles of water. Playa de las Canteras in Gran Canaria came in first place thanks to its low sun lounger rental prices, but Kleopatra beat it in all other categories.

Renting a sun lounger will set you back around £6.44 per day, but an ice cream only costs 69p, a pint of beer comes in at £1.86, a spritz at £3.43 and a bottle of water at 37p, making it an extremely budget-friendly destination. As well as being friendly on your wallet, Kleopatra Beach is a stunning beach resort in its own right.

The crystal-clear water is perfect for snorkelling and the clean beach is ideal for sunbathing. The town of Alanya has lots to explore too, including a mediaeval castle which can be reached by a cable car, offering breathtaking views of the beach below.

Kleopatra Beach has received thousands of five star reviews on TripAdvisor. One wrote: “We consider Kleopatra beach to be one of the nicest ones we have ever experienced! Trust me, we visited quite a few…an absolute gem!” another added: “Best beach in Alanya…Beautiful clean beach with plenty of beach clubs with sun loungers. Nicely situated by the cable car going up to the castle close to town. Soft sand with crystal clear water - an amazing array of fish easily visible with snorkel attracted to the shallow reef.”
