'Abusive' thug banned from Middlesbrough town centre after antisocial behaviour
A man has been banned from a Teesside town centre for the next three years over antisocial and abusive behaviour.
South Bank's Steven Harkin has been slapped with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) by magistrates preventing him from entering Middlesbrough town centre until 2027. Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team asked for the order to be granted after repeated reports from members of the public of antisocial and abusive behaviour by Harkin.
Officers were granted the order on Friday, May 10, at Teesside Magistrates' Court. PC Christopher Swales from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The kind of behaviour carried out by Steven Harkin towards the law-abiding public going about their daily business in the town centre area won’t be tolerated.

“People have the right to go about their business without being intimidated or abused in the street, and we will pursue Criminal Behaviour Orders wherever possible to prevent this behaviour.” Until May 9 2027, the 49-year-old is banned from entering Middlesbrough town centre (bound by Albert Road, Wilson Street, Newport Road, Hartington Road and Borough Road) unless for a pre-arranged medical appointment. Any breaches of the order could result in arrest.
