Adam Thomas has said it 'breaks my heart' as he shared an emotional video with fans in which his daughter could be seen in tears. The actor took to social media with the clip of little Elsie saying goodbye to her cousins at the end of a wholesome family holiday.

Adam, his wife Caroline and their two children- Teddy and Elsie - have recently been spending time together in Portugal where Adam's brother, former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, celebrated his 40th birthday.

Ryan's fiancee Lucy Mecklenburgh pulled out all the stops for her other half as she organised a sun-soaked bash for the birthday boy which took place over the weekend with Adam, Caroline, Teddy and Elsie - among those enjoying the fun.

Adam and Ryan's brother Scott also headed over with his niece, Ryan's daughter, Scarlett Thomas, with friends including former Corrie co-stars Richard Fleeshman and Chris Fountain, EastEnders' Dean Gaffney and Scarlett's Waterloo Road co-star Hattie Dynevor, who is the daughter of Corrie icon Sally Dynevor.

But after the celebrations were over, Ryan said goodbye to Adam and his family as they headed home, and it clearly left Elsie feeling sad as in her dad's video, she was seen trying to stop her tears while kissing goodbye to Scarlett as well as younger cousin, Roman, as he stayed in Portugal alongside Ryan, Lucy and younger sister Lilah.

Adding the Freya Ridings track 'Lost Without You' to his video, Adam, 35, wrote to his fans and followers: "Nothing worse than leaving your holiday as a kid! Let’s face it we’ve all been there… "

He added: "Breaks my heart watching it happen to your kids though. Love how the next generation of the Thomas family are so close. Family really is everything x." And the Waterloo Road star's fans and followers were quick to respond as they hailed the Thomas' 'family goals'.

But the break didn't come without its drama as Teddy, who stars in Waterloo Road alongside his dad following its reboot by the BBC last year, suffered a worrying fall. Sharing pictures to Instagram, Adam revealed his son took quite the bashing to his eye which requited a trip to the hospital and some stitches.

Among the images, Teddy was seen back smiling by the pool and was also be comforted by his younger sister Elsie and younger cousin Roman following his ordeal.

Alongside the post, former Emmerdale star Adam wrote to his fans and followers: "I didn’t think I could love this little boy anymore, but I was wrong! I see him in a completely different light now, a new found respect and admiration for this brave lil old soul. He had a fall whilst we were away and ended up cutting just under his eye… it was quite a deep gash and so had to have stitches but he handled the whole experience like a champ!!"

The actor continued: "Throughout all of it he just kept checking on me caz and Elsie asking if we’re okay and for us not to worry! Luckily it was only a few stitches and I know things can always be worse and they are for so many people, so just got to count our lucky blessings, but seeing your child have to go through that last night really was a big wake up call for me… a new fear unlocked!"
