The 28-year-old singer recently announced she will take a break from touring to spend more time with her partner Simon Konecki and their three-year-old son Angelo.

But the star – who graduated from the Brits School in 2006 – has also lamented the fact that she missed out on higher education whilst persuing her music and thinks it would be the perfect time to focus on getting a degree.

She told fans at her show in Boston over the weekend: “I’m desperate to go to university. I know that sounds ridiculous but it’s one thing I really plan on doing. I was about to start university in Liverpool in England and then I got offered a record deal, so I was like, ‘Ugh, what do I do?’ Obviously I took the record deal which I don’t regret at all.”

The Hello singer has her sights set on the prestigious Harvard University in Massachusetts, but worries that she isn’t smart enough to earn a place.

She said: “I want to go and do a tour of Harvard but I don’t want anyone thinking I’m smart enough to go to Harvard. I’m going to buy a T-shirt so I can sleep in a Harvard T-shirt. I think I would pretend to wear glasses if I went to university.”

Adele will likely put Angelo first before making a decision on where she applies for university.

A source said: “Angelo is the number one priority for Adele. He is the most important thing in her life. She has brought him everywhere with her on tour but as he is starting school next year, he won’t be able to join her any more.”
