Ben Affleck fully intends to continue on with the DC Extended Universe in The Batman, according to his director.

There were whispers that Affleck may have been dissatisfied with the DC films earlier in the year, even before he stepped back from directing the first solo Batman release of this burgeoning movie universe.

His directing replacement was eventually named as War for the Planet of the Apes' Matt Reeves, who has now told Getty on the red carpet that his vision still includes Affleck as the Dark Knight.

"Right now, that's exactly what's going on, for sure," Reeves said.

Clearly, this answer left the door open for things to change but, for now, Affleck is still on board to play Batman at least one more time following Justice League later this year.

Warner Bros is investing strongly in Batman's corner of the DC Extended Universe moving forward. Aside from The Batman, Warner is currently developing several Gotham City-centric projects.

Margot Robbie will reprise her Suicide Squad role Harley Quinn for Gotham City Sirens, a spin-off that will introduce both Catwoman and Poison Ivy into the DCEU.

There's also a Nightwing movie in the works, and Avengers director Joss Whedon is in the early stages of a Batgirl solo movie for the years ahead.

Joss Whedon is currently at the helm of reshoots for Justice League, having stepped in for Zack Snyder as the filmmaker tends to family issues.

Ben will return as Batman when Justice League opens on November 17 in the UK and the US. Watch a trailer below:
