“‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ will lead Lucasfilm’s ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, among those in the works,” the announcement said.

“Ahsoka,” which aired its Season 1 finale on Oct. 3, starred Rosario Dawson as the fan-favorite Jedi, who’s trying to save the galaxy from Grand Admiral Thrawn, a new threat after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Dawson first brought Ahsoka Tano to live-action in “The Mandalorian” Season 2 and also appeared on “The Book of Boba Fett.”

In addition to Dawson, “Ahsoka” Season 1 starred Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as New Republic general Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger. The show marked the first live-action appearances of Sabine, Hera, Thrawn and Ezra, who were main characters on the animated “Star Wars Rebels” TV series. Hayden Christensen also reprised his role as Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka’s former Jedi master. Other cast members in Season 1 included Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elspeth and David Tennant as the droid Huyang.

“Ahsoka” is created by Filoni, who has also worked on “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” The series is executive produced by Filoni, Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson and Carrie Beck. Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa directed episodes for the first season.

Other upcoming “Star Wars” series on Disney+ include “The Acolyte” and “Andor” Season 2. Filoni is directing a feature film that is expected to wrap up his TV series’ storylines.
