Poldark star Aidan Turner and The Good Doctor's Freddie Highmore are set to be key guests on a podcast about their new series Leonardo.

The Amazon Prime Video series follows the titular Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci, played by Turner, while Highmore takes on the role of Stefano Giraldi.

An eight-part podcast, Leonardo: The Official Podcast, is now set to coincide with the show's launch next week, taking a deep dive behind-the-scenes with presenter Angellica Bell.

Fans will also discover more about da Vinci's art and life from expert curators and historians, examining why he's still such an important figure hundreds of years later.

The first episode will include guest interviews with the likes of Turner and Matilda De Angelis (Caterina da Cremona), while the follow-up will explore masculinity on-screen and living as a gay man in 15th century Italy, with Highmore set to be interviewed.

The cast and creators are also due to appear in the follow-up episodes.

Leonardo comes from The X-Files writer Frank Spotnitz and writer Steve Thompson, and also stars Giancarlo Giannini.

As for Digital Spy's review of Leonardo, we said: "Turner gets to leave the beefcake image behind and in doing so he delivers a thoughtful and enjoyable portrait of the famous artist – a performance that is engrossing enough that all that extra fictional stuff really wasn't needed."

Leonardo launches on Amazon Prime Video in the UK and Ireland on April 16.
