KANDOO KID (4:05) can show his mettle in the Topham Trophy of Day Two of the Aintree Festival.

Paul Nicholls’ charge looked a decent recruit to chasing when second to Nickle Back at Warwick. The grey built on that debut effort when just denied by Galop De Chasse at Newbury. The gelding put those runs to the best use when slamming Frero Banbou back there. He was then unlucky to meet the progressive Djelo on his first run in Grade 2 company at Ascot. The eight-year-old didn’t stay three miles when pulled up in the Great Yorkshire at Doncaster. However, he improved for a return to 2m 4f at Newbury when second to Heltenham last time. The bold jumper is tailor-made for the National fences so can bag a red-hot event.

BROADWAY BOY (1:45) can star for Nigel Twiston-Davies in the Mildmay Novices’ Chase. The five-year-old hosed up from Mofasa on debut at Worcester. He raised his game again when second to Flooring Porter upped in class at Cheltenham.

The bay stayed on track with a defeat of Weveallbeencaught in Listed company back there. He recorded another best there when brushing aside Threeunderthrufive . He was then a disappointing third at Warwick and missed the Festival after an unsatisfactory scope. However, the bay is back in peak form so can put his rivals to the sword from the front.

CHAMPAGNE TWIST (2:20) can pay for a few rounds by taking the William Hill Handicap Hurdle. The six-year-old opened his account when bolting up from Taras Halls at Doncaster. However, he really excelled himself when dismissing Pic Roc in the EBF Final at Sandown. There is plenty more to come from this smart type who can defy a 7lb hike for his thriving yard.

DYSART ENOS (2:55) will be revved-up by Fergal O’Brien for the Top Novices’ Hurdle. The bay stretched her unbeaten record in bumpers to three when taking a Grade 2 here last year. She kept up the good work when hacking up from Parkin Fine switched to timber at Huntingdon.

The mare stayed upwardly mobile when defeating Beat The Bat at Cheltenham and Justus at Doncaster. The rising star had to sit out the Mares’ Hurdle at Cheltenham after a last-minute setback. However, she is flying at home so can gain compensation by claiming her first Grade 1.

PROTEKTORAT (3:30) rates the safest option in a trappy renewal of the Melling Chase. Dan Skelton’s horse was better than ever when landing the 2022 Betfair at Haydock. However, he failed to match that form with a couple of lesser displays at Cheltenham.

The gelding showed little sign of a revival when last of four in this season’s Betfair Chase. However, he didn’t mind dropping back to 2m 6f when second to L’homme Presse at Lingfield. He then paid the price for trying to make all when third to Shiskin over three miles at Newbury.

The bay benefitted from a drop to 2m 4f when caning Envoi Allen at Cheltenham. That was a magnificent performance so he can power to his fourth Grade 1 success.

SHANAGH BOB (4:40) looks to continue Nicky Henderson’s fightback in the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle. The gelding earned a switch to Team Seven Barrows by easily landing his point at Ballindenisk . The six-year-old justified that decision by crushing All The Glory on his UK debut at Plumpton. He then showed both class and guts to deny Destroytheevidence in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham. The bay will be fresh after missing the Festival so can get the better of some classy rivals.

EAGLES REIGN (5:15) can swoop for Ross O’Sullivan in the Alder Hey Handicap Hurdle. The gelding caught the eye with a couple of encouraging efforts in defeat at Punchestown. He built on those runs when comfortably denying Tranquil Sea on his handicap bow there.

The juvenile then found only the exciting Lark In The Mornin in the Boodles at Cheltenham. That was a cracking performance so the four-year-old has a great chance to go one better for his shrewd yard.
