Alan Brazil gets Rangers fishing rod out as Celtic daft pundit celebrates '3 points right away' after derby date announced

The new SPFL fixtures are just minutes old - but Alan Brazil has already got his fishing rod out live on talkSPORT.

The Celtic-daft breakfast show host was reacting on air with Gabby Agbonlahor as the league body dropped the 2024-25 schedule for the Scottish Premiership, Championship, League 1 and 2. Like all supporters, the derby games are the ones that are looked for and circled first on the calendar and for the Celtic and Rangers fans, that will come as early as matchday four on August 31. Brazil bragged the home meeting was 'music to his ears' and that it was three points for Brendan Rodgers' men right away.

The Glasgow rivals will meet for the second time in a blockbuster New Year showdown on January 2 at Ibrox before the third meeting ahead of the league split returns to the east end on March 15. The Hoops lifted the crown last season as Philippe Clement goes through a summer of transition in Govan as he bids to prize the league crown away from Parkhead and across the city to Ibrox.

Brazil: "First Old Firm derby is the 31st August at Celtic Park. Lovely. Music to my ears. That's 3 points right away. Get in."

Agbonlahor: "Can you get me some freebies. I want to go watch a Celtic and Rangers game?"

Brazil: "You don't have to ask for freebies, complimentary more."

Agbonlahor: "Can you get me some complimentary tickets, Alan?"

Brazil: "They meet again at Ibrox on the 2nd of January. That's a big game. Listen, it was fairly tight in the end last season wasn't it?"

Agbonlahor: "They need to do better in the derby games. Whenever they [Rangers] play Celtic now, Celtic are looking like the favourites aren't they?

Brazil: "I have not really kept up to date - because of the Euros - who is in and who is out in terms of who is buying. It is totally different up there. They don't have the money or resources."

Agbonlahor: "Rangers need more than Celtic I would imagine?"

Brazil: "They do."
