Alan Carr turned down 'Strictly' because it’s 'too much like hard work'

Alan Carr has admitted he is avoiding doing Strictly Come Dancing because it’s “too much like hard work”.

The comedian said he is approached about taking to the dancefloor on the BBC programme every year, but isn’t keen on putting in all the work required on the show.

"They ask me to do it every year, and I say, 'No' because it's too much like hard work," he said on The Graham Norton Show.

If Carr ever does sign up for the competition it seems he has already perfected at least one move – the “slut drop”.

However, he confessed the dramatic dip might be a little rusty.

“I used to be able to slut drop, but I can’t any more, I’m at that age,” said the 43-year-old.

“I like Oops Upside Your Head because you get to sit down!”

Carr also opened up to host Graham Norton about married life with his husband Paul Drayton, saying the pair split their time between London and Drayton’s farm.

The TV star, who tied the knot with Drayton in 2018, said: “I go to see him and I mince around in my wellies, which is enough for me.

“I don’t like excessive eye contact with animals that are pooing. It’s not me – I like espresso martinis in London.

“So, he comes to London and I go down there – we have the best of both.”
