Alan Shearer expects Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa to start England's Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland on Saturday.

The Three Lions scraped through their round of 16 clash against Slovakia on Sunday night, as Jude Bellingham bagged a stoppage time equaliser to take the game to extra-time. Harry Kane then put England in front early on in the first half of extra-time.

Gareth Southgate has a big decision to make for the next match against Switzerland after centre-back Marc Guehi picked up a one-match suspension after collecting a yellow card in the win.

It leaves Southgate with two options, either starting Konsa or Brighton's Lewis Dunk next to John Stones. Konsa featured in all four of England's warm-up games before their Euros campaign got started against Serbia.

Newcastle legend Shearer thinks Konsa should be the man to replace Guehi this weekend.

Asked about which defender he'd pick, he said: "Probably Konsa, I think. He’s the one who has been involved a little bit more so I would bring him in."

If England were to beat Switzerland, they'd then face the winner of the quarter-final which will be contested between Romania/Netherlands and Austria/Turkey.
