Aldi issues urgent 'do not eat' warning as meat products pulled from shelves

Aldi has pulled meat products from almost all of its stores over fears they could be 'unsafe to eat'. The supermarket is recalling its Ashfields Grill Chinese Pork Loin Steaks and Ashfields Grill BBQ Pork Loin Steaks.

Shoppers are being warned not to eat the products and instead return them to stores for a refund. Pack sizes of 500g, with use by dates of June 22, 2024, are affected.

A labelling error means the meat products have the wrong use by date, the Food Standards Agency said. Aldi has since apologised to customers.

The FSA said: " Aldi is recalling Ashfields Grill Chinese Pork Loin Steaks and BBQ Pork Loin Steaks because of a labelling error which shows incorrect use-by dates, making the products unsafe to eat. If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them.

"Instead, return them to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, please visit help.aldi.co.uk or contact 0800 042 0800."

All Aldi stores - except for Bathgate, in Scotland - are impacted by the recall. Aldi said: "As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Chinese Pork Loin Steaks and BBQ Pork Loin Steaks because a small number of products have had the incorrect use by date applied of June 22.

"Anyone who bought this product should return it to their nearest store for a full refund. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
