Alex hits it off with Love Island newbies Ellie & Zara

Tonight's episode of Love Island saw two new "bombshells" enter the villa, much to the delight of resident doctor Alex George.

"It's double trouble isn't it?" said Alex. "There's two girls coming in, hopefully one of them's the right one. Or both. No joking, just one will do!

"The tactic this time is to get to know both of them very, very quickly. If one of the girls is right for me, then go for it."

Alex has been down on his luck so far on the show, but with the arrival of newcomers Ellie Brown and Zara McDermott, it looks as though his patience may have finally paid off.

The rest of the boys were determined to help him couple up, offering their advice and sprucing him up for the girls' arrival.

With Alex being a firm Love Island fan favourite, viewers were delighted to see the others helping him out on Sunday night's (June 17) show.

With the rest of the girls sent away on a night out, Zara and Ellie made their big entrance – and Alex wasted no time in getting to know them.

He immediately hit it off with both girls, although viewers weren't so sure about the quality of his chat.

Despite that, things are looking up for Alex as he seemed to bond with Zara over their love of politics.

After all, what better reason is there to couple up with someone?

Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2, while Love Island: Aftersun airs on Sundays at 10pm, also on ITV2.
