Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future remains uncertain with further contract talks planned with Arsenal.

As reported by Standard Sport earlier this month, Chelsea believe there is a genuine chance they could pull off a £35m move for the midfielder as he continues to stall over a new deal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has less than a year left on his existing contract but is set to be offered fresh terms in excess of £100,000-a-week.

However, early indications are that he will not commit himself to an extension, a stance which will test Wenger’s resolve to keep him beyond August 31 under any circumstances.

Liverpool also retain an interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain, who started both of Arsenal’s Premier League games to date and the Community Shield victory over Chelsea.

But speaking to reporters last week, Arsene Wenger appeared adamant that the midfielder would not be leaving the club this summer.

Wenger said: "I rate him highly, he is one of the players who is on his way up and has made huge progress. Personally, I want him to stay here for a long time."
