Alex Pritchard's Birmingham City nightmare could be about to end

Alex Pritchard is reportedly in discussions over a swift Birmingham City exit to Turkish side Sivasspor.

The Telegraph says Pritchard, 31, is in line to depart Blues just five months after joining the club from Sunderland. Sivasspor were among the clubs interested in Pritchard during the January transfer window before Tony Mowbray brought him to Blues.

Mowbray was determined to sign Pritchard having worked with him at Sunderland and handed the midfielder a two-and-a-half year contract. Pritchard only started one Blues game for Mowbray due to a calf injury.

The ex-Norwich City and Huddersfield playmaker only made three starts for Blues in total, with a further six outings off the bench, in a spell that has been disrupted by injuries and form.

The Blues squad is light in some areas but new manager Chris Davies has a number of options in the attacking midfield positions where Pritchard plays. Juninho Bacuna, Koji Miyoshi, Siriki Dembele, George Hall, Tyler Roberts and Romelle Donovan can all operate in that area of the pitch.

If Pritchard does depart, he will become the 11th senior player to leave the club since the end of last season. Blues released Neil Etheridge, Marc Roberts, Ivan Sunjic, Gary Gardner and Scott Hogan, and five loan players returned to their parent clubs.
