Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman to swap for Pointless' 1,000th ep

Pointless’ 1,000th episode will be slightly different to the previous 999.

Present Alexander Armstrong will switch places with Richard Osman, who sits behind his trusty Pointless laptop revealing the answers.

While Richard was excited about changing with Alexander, he is not desperate to do it again.

He said: “I’m so delighted that the ridiculous rise and rise of Pointless continues and have loved spending 1000 episodes alongside my TV husband Xander.

“Swapping roles was a real treat but let’s just say I’m not in a hurry to do it again – Xander’s job is much harder than it looks!”

Alexander added: “I can’t tell you how exciting this is for Richard and me!

“I imagine it’s probably fairly obvious how much we love making Pointless – but to pass the 1000th episode mark is a great tribute to a show that so many people work so hard on. Long may it prosper!”

A £2,500 charity jackpot will be up for grabs and every Pointless answer will be worth an extra £1,000 for the kitty.

The special episode will be broadcast in the new year on BBC One and feature some previous contestants, including David and his son Jon, who won the highest jackpot ever at £24,750.
