Singer Alexandra Burke has cancelled her upcoming UK tour citing ‘scheduling issues’.

The 29-year-old announced the decision on Twitter, as she shared the shock news with her 699,000 followers.

‘I just got back to the UK after a few days away. I’m really sorry to announce that sadly I have had to cancel The Truth Is tour in September. The timing just wasn’t right,’ her message began.

‘I’m really sorry to anyone who has been inconvenienced by this decision. I love performing more than anything and can’t wait to reschedule more live shows in the future.

‘There will be more news coming from me soon.

‘Thank you t you for all your support and understanding.’

Burke was due to perform on a 13-date tour of the United Kingdom this September, where she planned to promote and push her latest album The Truth which was released in February.

She was set to embark on the tour after recently finishing a stint playing Svetlana Sergievsky in the West End show Chess.

The Truth is the The X Factor alumni’s third studio album, following on from successful release of 2009’s chart-topper Overcome and 2012’s less well-received Heartbreak on Hold.

Burke won the 2008 series of The X Factor and her single Hallelujah shot to the top of the chart becoming the 2008 Christmas Number One, having sold 576,000 copies in its first week and shifting over 1.2 million by the following summer.
