'Influencer' says sorry for defacing Durdle Door cliffs with graffiti of her Instagram account
An Instagram “influencer” has apologised for scrawling details of her social media account on to cliffs at a World Heritage Site.
Alexandra Milam, 24, defaced the white cliffs at Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth, Dorset, with her Instagram handle when she visited last week.
After a team of volunteers cleaned up the beauty spot, visited by thousands during the recent heatwave, Milam was forced to apologise.
She told the Dorset Echo: "I feel awful because of this horrific event in my life and I wish to express my deep regret for the damage by my name written on the Jurassic Coast.
"I have learned a huge lesson, one which will forever mark me.”
Milam has also set up a monthly payment of £30 to a fundraising campaign for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue charity.
Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast, and has featured as a backdrop in several films.
Milam said her charity donation was intended to help “spread the awareness to everyone who doesn't understand the beauty and importance” of Durdle Door.
She added: “I don't want anyone else making the same mistake."
