Amanda Holden shared a photo of her idyllic garden - which looked like something out of the Chelsea Flower Show - to reveal she was dedicating a robust-looking palm tree in honour of the late Sir Captain Tom.

The Heart DJ and Britain's Got Talent judge shared the snap of her impressive garden on Instagram, which featured gorgeous grey decking and lovely green shrubbery and plants.

Like many of us, the star was obviously feeling spring in the air as she enjoyed a spot of gardening, wearing a cap, sunglasses and jeans, and posing next to the palm tree in tribute to the late war veteran, who died earlier this month at the age of 100.

Sir Tom raised more than £32 million for the NHS last year after completing 100 laps of his Bedfordshire garden before his 100th birthday.

"Planting this #palm in honour of @captainsirtom," Amanda captioned her photo.

Fans were loving Amanda's thoughtful and uplifting gesture - and also admired her beautiful garden - with one remarking: "Wow it looks beautiful. I'm sure he would have loved it and I hope it's as strong as him."

Another added: "Wow, what a thoughtful and wonderful thing to do."

Meanwhile, Amanda recently celebrated her 50th birthday, sharing a pics of herself on top of a three-tiered cake adorned with flowers with a cherry in her mouth, and looking glam in a nude bodysuit embellished with sequins.

"Half a century.. time flies," the actress reflected. "Thank you for all your kind & loving messages today.. my husband Chris and my gorgeous girls have spoiled me rotten and it’s still going.

"My friends have sent the most hilarious messages & presents and made this day extra special ..I can’t wait to celebrate in a HUGE way when we can.. I’m 50 all year and all year we’re gonna party. Hang on to your loved ones. It’s nearly over."
