Amazon’s ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ Lines Up A-List Guest Cast

Mr. & Mrs. Smith will be in some good company when the Prime Video series premieres.

The series, based on the 2005 Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie movie of the same title, has added a number of high-profile guest stars opposite leads Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. Alexander Skarsgard, Eiza González, Sarah Paulson, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman, Billy Campbell and Úrsula Corberó will appear in the show, joining previously announced guest stars Paul Dano, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, Parker Posey and Wagner Moura. Details on their roles are being kept under wraps.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith stars Glover (who’s also an executive producer) and Erskine as “two lonely strangers who land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travels, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan,” per the show’s logline. “The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now hitched, John and Jane navigate a high-risk mission every week while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?”

The series has been in the works for several years, with Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge initially set to collaborate as both co-creators and co-stars. Waller-Bridge, however, left the show in 2021 over creative differences. “I worked on that show for six months fully in heart and mind and really cared about it — still care about it,” she told Vanity Fair earlier this year. “And I know it’s gonna be brilliant. But sometimes it’s about knowing when to leave the party. You don’t want to get in the way of a vision. Creative collaboration is like a marriage, and some marriages don’t work out.”

Mr. & Mrs. Smith is set to premiere Feb. 2, having been pushed back from a November premiere during the writers and actors strikes. Glover and Francesca Sloane (Atlanta, Fargo) are co-creators and executive producers.
