Ryan Murphy has picked the absolute perfect title for American Horror Story's election-themed seventh season.

After two months of teasing us with politically-symbolic monsters and cryptic hints about the title itself, the producer revealed on Thursday (July 20) that his new season will be called American Horror Story: Cult.

And the series is getting an earlier start than usual, debuting on September 5 at 10/9c on FX.

Suddenly, all of those allusions he's made to that feeling of fear after Donald Trump's election make much more sense, don't they?

In addition to revealing that title, Murphy has also described exactly how the upcoming American Horror Story season will begin.

"The first 10 minutes of the season, this season, takes place in a very eerie macabre way on election night and there's something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on election night as they're watching it all go down," he recently teased.

"Which in itself was a horror story, so it's like a horror story upon a horror story."

Murphy also recently confirmed that he is bringing back John Carroll Lynch's serial-killing clown Twisty in at least in the form of a haunted comic book, although its not clear if Lynch himself will return.

Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Adina Porter, and Cheyenne Jackson are all returning, while newcomers include Lena Dunham, Arrow's Colton Haynes, Alison Pill, Billie Lourd and Billy Eichner has also signed on.

American Horror Story's seventh season will premiere on September 5 - just in time for a creepy theme park tie-in to open.
