It appears Finn Wittrock has been replaced as Guy Gardner in Max's upcoming Green Lantern series, Lanterns.

While it was previously announced that the American Horror Story star would play Green Lantern aka Guy Gardner in the project opposite Jeremy Irvine's Alan Scott, the series was ultimately redeveloped without Wittrock and Irvine attached (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Following the announcement that Superman: Legacy has cast The Suicide Squad's Nathan Fillion as Guy, Gunn confirmed that Fillion will also play the character in the TV series.

Taking to Threads, one confused fan asked the filmmaker: "What happened to Finn Wittrock as Gardner? Is the Lanterns show separate? Or did he get recast?"

Clearing up the confusion, Gunn replied: "The Green Lanterns show is not separate; Nate will play Guy in all parts of the DCU."

Fillion's version of the character has been described as "less than heroic" and will sport a bowl-cut.

Fillion will be joined in Superman: Legacy by Twilight's Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, an extremely intelligent inventor with dangerous combat skills.

Instant Family's Isabela Merced has also joined the cast as Hawkgirl, who is known for her love of swords, spears and maces.

It was previously announced that The Politician's David Corenswet and Marvelous Mrs Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan will play Superman and Lois Lane, respectively.

Other stars who had reportedly been up for the roles before Corenswet and Brosnahan were ultimately cast included Nicholas Hoult, Tom Brittney, Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor.

Superman: Legacy is expected to debut in cinemas on July 11, 2025.
