Amish Men Unite to Manually Move Building

Many hands make light work, or so the old saying goes. It was certainly true for this group of men from the Amish community around Parkman, Ohio. A couple of hundred men gathered to manually lift and move a shed for a friend in need.

Bill Jancsurak captured video of the feat of strength on June 17, 2019. Jancsurak told Storyful that the shed was approximately 20 feet by 30 feet. Jancsurak said that the father of the property owner told him that, “10 phone calls brought out almost 200 men” to take part in the task. The man also told Jancsurak that “this was the smallest building to be moved in this way.”

Amish people often shun some modern tools and vehicles, so it’s not uncommon for them to use this traditional method to move a structure. Mount Vernon News posted a similar video of the same process in Ohio in March. Credit: Bill Jancsurak via Storyful
