Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden has confessed that she feels “guilty” as she marks her second wedding anniversary. The 33-year-old from Caerphilly, who in 2023 was diagnosed with breast cancer, wed fellow dancer Ben Jones in 2022.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, July 2, Amy shared how she was celebrating the special day — but unfortunately due to clashes with her and Ben’s schedule the couple have had to postpone their festivities to the weekend. “Today's our second wedding anniversary. I can't believe it's been two years,” she said.

“This time, two years ago, I was so excited. I'm doing everything to go back and relive that day again. I feel a little bit guilty because I'm working all day and I'm off to see Girls Aloud tonight, but we have just come back on a holiday together.”

Amy added: “Ben is working anyway so we couldn't have celebrated tonight. And you know what, we're going to just celebrate on the weekend instead.” The couple recently returned from a holiday with Amy’s parents to Portugal.

During her trip away Amy shared a message to her parents on her Instagram. At the time she wrote: “Thank you for the best time but everything you've done for me this past year! What a difference a year makes! “(Mum and dad was by mine and bens side every step of the way last year, Ben always joked when they was with us his towel had never been washed so much, cooking, cleaning, just being there for us, getting me out on long walks, hospital visits and navigating the best we could through the hardest of times.)

“Both my mum and dad struggled with my diagnosis leading to them being so stressed up and upset to taking time off work which neither of them have done before and it was the hardest thing seeing the pain in their eyes as they relived it all years later from mums diagnosis! But here we are a year on, and forever grateful to be here making the most of EVERYTHING.”

Amy is set to return to the Strictly dance floor for this year’s series, which marks 20 years since the show began on BBC One. One dancer who will not be coming back is Giovanni Pernice, who has found himself at the centre of bullying allegations which he denies.
