Andi Peters tells Dan Stevens 'I’ve always been this colour' after awkward gaffe on Good Morning Britain

Dan Stevens was left red-faced after an awkward slip up on Good Morning Britain.

The actor was on the show to discuss his upcoming film The Man Who invented Christmas, after a segment where host Andi Peters was reunited with Edd the Duck his puppet co-star on Nineties TV show The Broom Cupboard for a competition.

Stevens, who was a fan of the show when it originally aired, said: “I was completely rapt. This is the exact colour scheme I remember you from. It’s like being in a time machine.”

While Stevens had been referring to the studio backdrop, Peters saw a double meaning in his remark and quipped: “Really? I’ve always been this colour Dan. It’s not a tan.”

The comment caused much hilarity amongst the breakfast show team, with presenter Ben Shepherd joking: “Boy, that’s awkward.”

Stevens joined in with the laughter, telling Peters: “Touché”.

It’s not the first time Stevens has been caught up in an embarrassing gaffe on Good Morning Britain.

In 2014, it was anchor Susanna Reid's turn to cringe after she asked the former Downton Star if he had face competition from US actors for his part in film The Guest.

She said: “Did you have to beat off a lot of American men to get the part?”

Stevens dissolved into giggles at the remark, leaving Reid nonplussed.

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays at 6am on ITV.
