Andrea McLean reveals she was a 'Strictly' reserve - but was so relieved not to be called up
Andrea McLean has confirmed Strictly Come Dancing is definitely not for her as she revealed a nervous time as a reserve for the show.
The former Loose Women star was asked by Metro whether she'd like to take part in the BBC One dance contest, but admitted she had already been asked to be a stand in once before - and was so relieved that no one got injured as she hated the thought of performing.

She said: "Many years ago, I was actually a reserve and I was so relieved when I didn’t get called up because I got a glimpse into what it’s like.
And I just said, this is too scary and actually I was really happy that I didn’t have to do it."
The TV star added that she had enjoyed "a little taste" but was sure that she would "never, ever want to try it".
McLean refused to say which pro dancer her partner would have been, sharing only that he was "super nice" and that they had learned a routine together.

She said that she thought the mystery dancer had shared her feelings, saying: "I think he was relieved because I looked nice in the dress and that was as far as it went! And then I moved and everything… I just knew that if I actually ended up on the show, everyone would do that, 'Ah! Ohhhhh…' and it wouldn’t be good."
Her former co-star Kaye Adams took part in this year's Strictly but was voted out first with partner Kai Widdrington.
Other Loose Women panellists who have taken part in Strictly in previous years include Judi Love, Frankie Bridge and Christine Lampard.
Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher famously won Strictly in 2019 as a reserve contestant when he was drafted in to replace Jamie Laing, who had injured his foot in the launch show.
Laing returned to the show in 2020, where he made the final.
