Angelina Jolie's father critical of her stance on Israel attacks
Angelina Jolie's father Jon Voight has criticised her on social media - saying he was "disappointed" in his daughter's comments about Israel's attacks on Gaza.
Jolie, 48, posted a statement on Instagram saying the Hamas terrorist attack "cannot justify the innocent lives lost in bombing a civilian population in Gaza that has nowhere to go, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, and not even the basic human right to cross a border to seek refuge".
"The bombings are causing desperate new humanitarian needs daily," she wrote.
"The denial of aid, fuel and water is collectively punishing people. Humanity demands an immediate ceasefire."
In a video shared on Instagram captioned "truth and lies", 84-year-old Voight said his daughter has "no understanding of God's honour".
Sitting in front of an American flag, the Oscar winner said: "I am very disappointed that my daughter, like so many, has no understanding of God's honour, God's truths.
"This is about destroying the history of God's land - the Holy Land - the land of the Jews.
"This is justice for God's children of the Holy Land.
"The Israeli army must protect thy soil, thy people. This is war. It's not going to be what the left thinks - it can't be civil now."
The Maleficent actress resigned as special envoy to the UN High Commission for Refugees in December 2022 after 20 years of working with the organisation.
Hamas killed around 1,400 Israelis on 7 October in a surprise attack. According to the Palestinian health ministry, nearly 10,000 civilians - including 4,000 children - have been killed by Israeli airstrikes on Palestine after the attack.
Voight married Jolie's mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, in 1971. They had two children - James in 1973 and Jolie in 1975 - but divorced the year after the actress was born.
Jolie and Voight were estranged in the early 2000s after he publicly commented on her mental health and divorce from Billy Bob Thornton.
The pair reconciled with Voight telling the Daily Mail in 2011 that "being reunited with Angie is very precious to me". However, it is believed Jolie cut contact again after her divorce from Brad Pitt.
