Angie Tribeca Deserves ‘Something Bigger Than An Emmy,’ According To Rashida Jones In Hilarious Video

’Angie Tribeca’ has been met with stellar reviews ever since it premiered earlier this year across the pond on TBS. It was even compared to the iconic work of Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker, who famously wrote and directed ‘Airplane’ and ‘Police Squad!’

Because of its impressive string of episodes over the course of its first season, ‘Angie Tribeca’ has been touted as an Emmy contender. And we don’t have long to wait and see if it’s worthy of such adulation as voting on these awards is now underway.

In order to try and amass votes networks launch campaigns to convince the powers that be that their shows are worthy of such honours. This sometimes includes videos where the actors speak glowingly about their show, but Rashida Jones’ for ‘Angie Tribeca’ goes for a different tone and, as you’d expect and hope, it is downright hilarious.

Ahead of its release, TBS insisted, “If you watch only one FYC Emmy video this season, make it’s this one.” It’s hard to disagree, too. Watch it below.

I think the above can firmly be labelled, ‘Tongue in cheek.’

In the clip, Rashida Jones speaks about how “taken aback” she was when she first read the script pilot, calling it a truly “important” story that really needed to be told. Which is clearly true, as it included a joke about Angie posing nude while undercover and having to hide her microphone in a place that instantly made it unusable for anyone else. Classy.

Joes even goes on to describe ‘Angie Tribeca’ as both “dark” and “raw”, before rather morbidly adding, “It’s a tough world and if you’re not careful, you could easily lose your humanity.” I’d describe it as wonderfully silly and preposterously infantile myself, but “tomayto”, “tomahto”.

But how does ‘Angie Tribeca’ differ from other cop procedurals? Well, according to Jones, it’s all own to the titular character, who brings a “intelligence” and “emotional depth,” calling her “troubled” and “captivating.” Which was pretty obvious when ‘Angie Tribeca’ almost started a fight with a possum.

When asked pointedly if ‘Angie Tribeca’ deserves a nomination, Rashida Jones’ response was emphatic, as she declared, “A million times, yes.” She then hysterically added, “What’s even bigger than an Emmy? Cause that’s really what it deserves. Is there something bigger than an Emmy?”

You can see what all the fuss is about every Thursday when ‘Angie Tribeca’, which was created by Nancy and Steve Carell, airs on E4 at 9pm.
