Ant and Dec fans forced to 'pause' Saturday Night Takeaway finale and question celebrity prank

Saturday Night Takeaway viewers found themselves “forced to pause” their television screens as the final episode aired on Saturday, April 13. At one point in the two-hour long special Ant and Dec were served a taste of their own medicine as celebrities came together for a special edition of Get Out of Me Ear.

The likes of Alison Hammond, Rylan Clark and Holly Willoughby spoke to the presenting duo via an earpiece and made them do a series of embarrassing tasks to a restaurant full of people. These included asking a waiter to cut up their food, brushing their teeth in the middle of the restaurant and getting Dec to stand up and ask whether “anyone wants a photo”.

The hilarious task concluded with Cheryl arriving at the restaurant with two cakes. She then proceeded to push Ant and Dec’s faces into the cakes.

During the segment viewers took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts. “I've just had to pause #SaturdayNightTakeaway as I was laughing so much!.” wrote one person.

A second commented: “This is by far the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on TV,” while a third said: “Omg I can't stop laughing at this #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

Another person commented: “This is hilarious. Wondering why this show is ending?!” But not everyone believed the people in the restaurant weren't in on the prank.

“#SaturdayNightTakeaway Everyone knows what is happening,” said one person and another agreed, writing: “There no doubt at some point all of these would of realised they are on #SaturdayNightTakeaway no way anyone would act like this normally.”

Ant & Dec revealed that in fact no one in the restaurant knew that they were involved in the prank. “No one knew. It was hideous. Being surrounded by people that didn't know and had no idea. None of the staff, none of the people in the restaurant. You just felt like a really obnoxious celebrity in a restaurant,” Ant said afterwards.
